In a time of rapidly evolving technology, expanding use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and increasing demand for crisis support, how can clinicians effectively navigate this landscape while staying grounded in their role of connecting clients to meaningful help?

This presentation will highlight 988 as a practical and accessible resource for crisis support, while also demystifying what individuals can expect from the 988 experience. We will explore the critical role of advocacy and policy in ensuring that AI tools maintain pathways to human-centered crisis care. Additionally, participants will learn strategies for initiating conversations with clients about AI use, increasing awareness of available supports, and guiding clients in accessing safe, reliable crisis resources.

This 90-minute interactive training explores how implicit bias shapes clinical judgement, communication, and outcomes in behavioral and mental health settings.

Participants will build awareness of their own patterns, examine how bias can show up in everyday workflows and decision-making, and practice strategies to recognize and reduce its impact. The session emphasizes reflection, real-world scenarios, and practical tools to support more equitable and person-centered care.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
  1. Recognize how implicit bias and cultural assumptions can influence assessment, diagnosis, communication, and engagement.
  2. Reflect and identify personal and systemic factors that contribute to biased decision-making.
  3. Apply evidence-informed strategies to interrupt bias and support more equitable, person-centered care.
