Kristin Brooks, CPA, Partner Kristin is a Partner at Kern & Thompson, LLC and joined the firm in 2020. Kristin oversees audit and other financial statement engagements, including compilations and reviews. She specializes in not-for-profit organizations, including OMB Single Audits and pension plans. Prior to joining Kern & Thompson, she was a partner at a local Portland firm for 10 years where she directed the firm’s financial statement practice of over 100 annual engagements. She started her career at a large regional CPA firm where she worked for five years. Kristin then worked for a forensic accounting and expert witness consulting firm for eight years where her experience included technical accounting consulting, fraud investigations, forensic accounting investigations and accounting malpractice investigations. Kristin is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants and is licensed in Oregon and Washington. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting from the University of Portland. Kristin also holds an Advanced Single Audit Certificate through the AICPA. She currently serves as a Board Member of Dress for Success Oregon. In her free time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her two young children on a quest to find the best playgrounds in the area!
