Virtual MHFA Training CourseClick "SIGN UP!" below to receive information about training dates.WHY ADULT MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID?Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. Participants will learn common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, how to interact with a person in crisis, and how to connect a person to appropriate resources. WHAT WILL I LEARN?The course will teach you how to apply the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):Assess for risk of suicide or harm.Listen nonjudgmentally.Give reassurance and information.Encourage appropriate professional help.Encourage self-help and other support strategies.TRAINING COSTS AND BENEFITSThe cost for OCBH members and community partners to participate in MHFA training is $120. This cost covers the course materials, technology requirements, and staffing costs for OCBH. CEUs from MHACBO are awarded through OCBH for Behavioral Health professionals. Quiona is the OCBH Project Coordinator. She is a bi-lingual Spanish speaker and is enjoying putting together her first conference for Latinos Unidos. Heather is the Director of Projects for OCBH and is active in her community with PTA and coaching. Together, Quiona and Heather hope to increase the number of adults trained to help youth in our region and beyond who may be suffering from mental health or substance use challenges. |
